`/social/solar-system.jpg` is a branded screenshot of the site's rendered Sun
and planets using these maps. The image carries a Solar System Scope credit;
the attribution and license above also apply to its planet textures.
`/social/leo-constellation.jpg` is an artistic rendering using HYG v4.1 star
data by David Nash (https://github.com/astronexus/HYG-Database), CC BY-SA 4.0
(https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/), credited on the image.
`/social/rings.jpg` shows the site's original procedural ring sculpture.

The original 2K maps are unmodified, apart from local filenames. Production
copies are encoded as WebP, with resized mobile maps and navigation thumbnails.
The source maps are based on NASA imagery and include color adjustments and
reconstructed regions.

This visualization preserves planet order and approximate orbital eccentricities,
inclinations and axial tilts. Distances, sizes and orbital periods are compressed
for readability. Starting phases are illustrative, not a live ephemeris.

## Interactive Spacecraft

The gravity-comparison astronaut is an original procedural illustration.

Mercury: 3.70 m/s²; Venus: 8.87 m/s²; Earth: 9.80 m/s²; Mars: 3.71 m/s².
Jumps use identical take-off speed with no air resistance, enlarged display
distances and uniformly slowed playback. This is not a habitable-surface
simulation; Venus's displayed clouds do not depict its solid surface.

ISS, Hubble, and Landsat 9 are custom procedural representations by perspective., created
for this experience. No NASA/ESA/USGS mesh or texture assets were copied for
these spacecraft. Geometry depicts recognizable components, including solar
arrays, trusses, modules, optical apertures, antenna dishes and thermal blankets.
Configurations and proportions are illustrative, not engineering replicas or
official agency models. Models are simplified and quantized for browser use.

Orbit figures are representative nominal values, not current telemetry:
ISS: 420 km, 51.6 degrees; Hubble: 525 km, 28.5 degrees;
Landsat 9: 705 km, 98.2 degrees.
Displayed periods use a circular two-body approximation with Earth radius
6371 km and gravitational parameter 398600.4418 km^3/s^2.
Starting phases and ascending nodes are arbitrary, altitude above Earth is
exaggerated 6x, and spacecraft sizes are enlarged for visibility. Time is
accelerated 60x; orbital motion pauses on inspection and honors Reduced Motion.
Close-ups show the custom spacecraft over the site's galaxy background.

## India Descent

The cinematic Himalayan doorway and clouds are derived from a visual
reference supplied by the project owner and used with their approval.
The transparent artwork layers exclude the reference's interface and
lettering. They are blended with the live terrain and are not a real
landmark, agency model or structure depicted in the satellite imagery.
The circular framed portrait was also supplied by the project owner.
Its transparent outline and photograph are preserved in a resized WebP.
Arrival lettering uses Pinyon Script and Cormorant Garamond, distributed
under the SIL Open Font License; the full font licenses are included in
`/credits.txt`.

`india-day.jpg`: NASA Blue Marble Next Generation, obtained through NASA GIBS
WMS (EPSG:4326), bounding box 65 E, 5 N, 101 E, 39 N, 3072 x 3072.

`himalaya-day.jpg`: NASA/USGS Landsat WELD annual corrected-reflectance
true-color composite (2000-12-01), obtained through NASA GIBS WMS, bounding
box 77.5 E, 29 N, 81.5 E, 33 N, 4096 x 4096. This historical composite is
not live satellite imagery.

Production satellite copies use WebP encoding. Desktop copies retain their
original resolution; mobile copies are resized to 1536 and 2048 pixels wide.

`himalaya-height.bin`: SRTM/GMTED2010 elevation data courtesy of the U.S.
Geological Survey, distributed by Mapzen Terrain Tiles on AWS. Zoom-9
Terrarium tiles were bilinearly resampled from Web Mercator into a 1025 x
1025 latitude/longitude grid covering the same Himalayan bounds. Rows run
north to south; columns run west to east. Values are little-endian unsigned
16-bit meters above sea level. Terrain geometry uses these heights without
vertical exaggeration. Camera altitude is above sea level, not above ground.
